Spring has Sprung

Summer is not far away. NOW is the time to start preparing for the forthcoming fire season.

We can’t know what will happen or when, but we can start putting a plan in place to protect ourselves, our family and our property.

The most important thing to consider is your own personal safety. What will you do on bad days? Do I stay and defend or leave early for a safer location with family and friends in an urban area?

Of course, if you stay and defend, it would be helpful if you did some preparation in advance so that you have a realistic chance of success.

What should you do?
Start preparing (or updating) you Fire Plan. Visit the Fire Brigade stand at the Bannockburn Farmers Market the first Saturday in November where members will be on hand to talk to you and free literature available for you to take.

We have also organised a special evening at the Bannockburn Fire Station where experienced staff from the CFA will give a short presentation containing practical tips on how to prepare and defend your property.

This Community Fire Safety Presentation will be held on Wednesday 27th November with a free BBQ at 6.30pm and the presentation commencing at 7pm.

You will be able to ask questions relevant to your situation and meet your local brigade members. You should leave some practical knowledge of how you can better enhance your own safety in the event of a fire.

We would love to meet you and assist with your fire plans at either or both or these events.

For further information please call Captain Barry Planner on 0408 525 157 or catch up with us at the Bannockburn Farmers Market.
