Official CFA Fire Station Openings in Golden Plains Shire

On Sunday 13th September, CFA Assistant Chief Officer Bob Barry officially opened two new Fire Stations within the Golden Plains Shire.

Mt Mercer and Werneth Brigades have had modern Fire Stations built to replace the old fire sheds to offer the best possible support within their local communities.

Each Station opening had Brigade members, their families and local community members present to be part of the celebration. The brigades took the opportunity to utilise this special day to acknowledge the diligent service of their members with the presentation of Service Awards.

Mt Mercer presented 30 service awards to their membership, with special awards to Brian Parker and John Cameron who were awarded with Brigade and CFA Honorary Life Memberships.

Werneth Fire Brigade had 24 service awards presented, 5 of the awards were to members who had achieved 50 years of service each. The Brigade also acknowledged the diligent service to the Brigade and wider community by Peter Mathews, Geoff Bryant, Tony Long and Peter Hirth by presenting them with Brigade Honorary Life Memberships.
