Golden Plains Little Athletics Club

Little Athletics Club Captains
Golden Plains Little Athletics Club has now participated in one month of Saturday morning competitions held at Corio Goldsworthy Reserve.

The Club Committee are very impressed with the great efforts that all the young athletes have shown; and many personal best results have already been made, which supports our Club’s motto of ‘Do Your Best – Be Your Best’!

One round saw a special, fun celebration in acknowledgement of Little Athletics’ sponsor, Jetstar, with an orange theme.

Each Saturday our athletes compete in a range of organised track and field events within their age group.  All organisers are volunteers and, as all parents are expected to assist at times through the athletics’ season, we wish to thank those who put extra effort into making this season a success.

Our Club also congratulates the Corio Little Athletics Centre who won last season’s RACV Top Centre Award, and with the prize money were able to purchase some necessary equipment; including a front-straight timing clock.

Golden Plains Little Athletics Club is proud to announce the names of our three Club Captains: Leticia Nelson, Laura Rowe and Caitlyn Sager!  All three athletes compete in the under 15 age group and all began in athletics between the ages of 5 and 8 years.  With secondary school and other extracurricular activities, these girls show a joy for physical fitness and dedication to self-improvement.  Their Captains’ role is to assist, support, mentor and motivate all athletes in our Club.  The Club Committee, athletes and parents all thank them for their commitment this season!

Each month these Club Captains choose and interview three Star Athletes from our Golden Plains Little Athletics Club.  In October, we all got to know Naia Warakea, Montanna Dunks and Clare Hardy a little better!

Naia is 5yrs old and her favourite event is long jump because it’s fun! She loves nutri-grain for breakfast, the colour pink and her best animal is the zebra!

Montanna is 6yrs old and she loves running.  She loves to play outside at school and her favourite colour is red!

Clare is 6yrs old and also loves long jump, honey over vegemite and the colour pink.  Her favourite animal is the Cat!

The Club Committee also wish to remind all our athletes to bring a bottle of water to rehydrate during their athletic events and to apply sunscreen each Saturday.

Anyone interested in coming and trying Little Athletics, is most welcome to contact Michelle Norton (President) on 0400 595 171 for further information on a free session!

So, until next month, continue to ‘Do Your Best – Be Your Best’ in all your do!!
