Maude Fire Brigade

Summer Fire Restrictions come in on 9th November. Keep in touch with the media for Total Fire Ban days – we are in the Central Fire District. Hopefully everyone has done all their clearing up ready for summer, so not only will you make your property safer, but you will have more chance of seeing unwelcome visitors slithering around.

All members must complete their pre-season minimum skills update to be able to attend fires. If you can’t get to training on the first Sunday of the month, please contact Craig or Bruce to discuss your options.

The Brigade has attended several small fires recently, mostly during the night. Thank you to those who have climbed out of bed to respond to the pager message. Your work is truly appreciated.

The pre-season Bushfire Planning Workshop was held at the Maude Fire Station on Sunday, 25th October. The very warm day was a reminder of what is ahead. Only a small number of local folk took advantage of the chance to get vital information, but for them it was very valuable.

A useful leaflet regarding the clearances you will need to allow a fire truck to access your property was distributed along with other information recently. Please check your entrances and access for clearances. Fire trucks can be BIG! All the planning in the world won’t help if your overgrown driveway prevents vehicles from entering.

The annual Christmas barbecue will be held at the Fire station on Saturday, December 12th at 6.30pm. This is always a great night, and a chance for newer members of the local community to meet more friends. A flyer will be delivered around the district very soon. Please keep the date free and come along for a relaxed evening. BYO drinks and chairs, and a salad and/or a sweet to share. Meat will be provided. We hope to see you there!

The next meeting of the Brigade Sub-Committee will be held on Monday, 22nd February 2016 at 7.30 at the Fire Station. Any interested local folk will be warmly welcomed.
