Maude & District Landcare Group

The next meeting of the Landcare group is to be held on Thursday, 3rd. December at the Maude Tennis Pavilion at 8pm.

The dates for our 2016 rabbit poisoning campaign are February 5th, 8th and 11th. Further information will be distributed on our flyer in January. Both Pindone and 1080 poisoned carrot will be available, but only those holding a current ACUP with 1080 endorsement will be able to use 1080, unless you arrange for a contractor to do the job for you.

1080 is a very dangerous poison with no antidote, and can only be used on larger properties and restrictions apply. Pindone is also a dangerous poison, but the difference is that there is an antidote available for dogs and cats if prompt action is taken.

If you have any queries or are not in our Landcare area and would like information, please contact Lex, 5281 9293, or Elaine, 5281 9395.

Serrated tussock has been in flower for some time now. It is very important to get every plant you see. Flower heads are now spreading on the wind and catching on fences, shrubs and even thistles and the recent high winds will have taken them many kilometers. Please note that all landholders are required to remove this weed from all our land, so spray, spot spray or dig out every plant you can find. Everyone knows what an awful job it is, but it has to be done, so please don’t put it off.
