Bannockburn Chamber of Commerce

Report on Executive Committee meeting held on 18 November 2015 at the Golden Plains Library.
General Business Report

The main issues from the Chamber’s perspective facing our business members are as follows:-

•  Need for security cameras in both the commercial centre of town and around the industrial estate.  A proposal was put to the Golden Plains Shire Council earlier this year for the installation of security cameras, however, due to the ongoing maintenance costs, the project did not proceed.  It was suggested that another proposal be put forward to Council in the New Year.

•  Improved street lighting on both High and Holder Roads.  As well as improved safety for residents walking early morning or in the evening, particularly in the winter months, more street lighting may also act as a deterrent for vandalism and crime;

•  Town signage on both the Midland and Hamilton Highways.  It was discussed that the Chamber would make an application in the New Year for State Government funding for road signage highlighting the amenities in Bannockburn, with the intention of encouraging people to stop in the town;

•  The need to promote a buy local campaign;

•  A general concern at the level of crime in Bannockburn, including the recent graffiti in the industrial estate; and

•  The need for members to attend Committee meetings.

Social Barbecue Night
The Chamber is holding a family barbecue as part of its year end social gathering.  The barbecue is at the Bannockburn Golf Club on Wednesday, December 9th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  A barbecue will be provided at no cost to members.  Drinks available at bar prices.  We hope to see all members and their families on the night.
