Volunteering offers great possibilities for Golden Plains youth

Volunteering offers a variety of ways Golden Plains young people can get valuable experience and learn new skills – and they’re definitely not boring!

People aged 14-24 have access to a whole host of local voluntary programs to get involved in. The Golden Plains Youth Development Team have developed a range of programs available for young people wishing to get involved in their local community.

Tracks: learn about what it takes to become an event manager and judge at your local skate park from industry professionals.

National Youth Week Planning Committee: get involved in organising activities for the largest week long celebration of young people in Australia.

Street Art Team: be mentored by professional graffiti artists to design and paint four skate parks, including Haddon, Dereel, Lethbridge and Enfield.

FReeZA Youth Leadership Program: be mentored by music industry professionals to lead and stage music events and festivals in the local area.

Activity Leader: gain experience designing and running activities and workshops for children and other young people during the Golden Plains School Holiday Program.

Mayor, Cr Des Phelan encourages Golden Plains young people to get involved.

“Volunteering is a fun and easy way to get involved in the community – and it could even help you get a job one day.

“It’s a great way to learn new skills, make new friends, and explore education, training and employment pathways – a fantastic way to spend your time.”
