Bannockburn skate park up in lights

The Bannockburn skate park will again be up in lights this year during the third annual Barwon South West Twilight Skate Park Competition on Friday 18 March.

This year, people aged 14-19 have the chance to participate in Tracks; a program where they learn from industry professionals about how to organise skate park events and competitions.

They will also be able to get involved in making decisions and playing a lead role in the delivery of the Barwon South West Skate Park Competition.

Industry professionals will mentor the young people around photography, sponsorship, judging, emceeing, risk and event management.

Mayor, Cr Des Phelan, says the program is a great opportunity for Golden Plains youth.

“Tracks is a fantastic program for any young people who want to to see more things happening at their local skate park.

“If you love skating and want to learn more about skate events and the industry in general, get involved! You’ll have fun and get some great experience at the same time.”

Tracks will be held at the Bannockburn Cultural Centre each Thursday from 4.30pm-6.30pm. The first session will begin on Thursday 4 February.
