Bannockburn Popup Church

Following  on from the disastrous and very sad fire that completely destroyed the lovely and historic St. John's Catholic Church in Bannockburn last October, the congregation has been meeting to celebrate Sunday Mass at Sacred Heart Inverleigh.

The parishioners have been made very welcome and feel very supported by the parishioners of Inverleigh. However the empty site where the church had stood for 114 years still beckoned. And so with a little bit  of help and lots of enthusiasm, a popup tent church was born.

On the last Sunday of January as the storm clouds rolled away after depositing squally rain showers for most of the night, parishioners gathered in the early hours to erect a marquee and arrange chairs and an altar to celebrate "coming home again"

They sang with gusto and prayed to God that a new church would soon be seen on the site.

Thanks to all who helped in any way to make the Mass possible. Another Mass was celebrated on the last Sunday of February and future Masses are planned subject to suitable weather and dates.
