Bannockburn Mens' Shed

An Open Letter to the Bannockburn & District Community

In December 2013, a public meeting was held to form the Bannockburn & District Men’s Shed Inc. with 17 members. Since then our members have continued to meet twice weekly on a Wednesday night each month in the Bannockburn Community Church hall.

The Shed members have undertaken many projects (community and for individuals) over the last two years. The Men’s Shed has continued to grow and currently has 25 active members.

The Golden Plains Shire Council has identified the Old Blue Stone Gaol Park next to Barwon Water in Victor St. as our future home.

Through fundraising and support from the Golden Plains Shire, the Shed members were able to apply for a State Government Men’s Shed Grant in June 2015. In November 2015 the Committee were advised that we had been successful in gaining the $60,000 grant. We are currently negotiating with Council and a commercial builder to get construction of the shed underway.

The Members of the Men’s Shed have participated in sausage sizzles, community and individual  projects, raffles, markets, Teesdale Christmas carols, the Geelong Show and the Air Show over the last couple of years – activities that have given the shed a positive visual exposure to the local community and raised valuable funds.

We, the Members of Bannockburn & District Men’s Shed, would like to thank all of those in the community who have helped the committee so far to raise funds for the building of a new Men’s Shed for the district.

The committee and members would like to extend our special thanks to the Bannockburn & District Community Enterprise for their grant, the O’Shannassy family for their $15,000 donation and Ramsey Property Group for their valuable and generous donation.

The Men’s Shed is still looking for assistance to get the Shed up and running and If there are any individuals or companies who wish to make a donation, grant or other support towards the building of a Men’s Shed in Bannockburn, please contact:
