Bannockburn Football & Netball Club

Its here! Season 2016!
The pre season well and truly over- and some very pleasing results from practice matches, both footy and netty.

All our new recruits blending in so well with the existing players, senior footy coaches Peter Riccardi and Darren Milburn eager to take our lads to the next level this season.

Likewise netball coach Justine Gajic is very excited by the showing of our new players - at last some tall timber for each end of the court to support the mid court girls. Good luck to the players at all levels- the competition will be hot!

The junior footballers have started training, and their season begins at the end of the school holidays.

As is with many Clubs THE JUNIORS, boys and girls, is an area where MORE PLAYERS are URGENTLY REQUIRED! Come along and join in the fun. Footy is a great game where friendship, sportsmanship and a genuine sense of “Club” is paramount! Doesn’t matter if you haven’t played before- plenty of great teaches to guide you!

Most of the junior netballs begin their season in line with the G&DFL fixture, first Sat in April!

Unfortunately there has been a problem with the top dressing of the footy ground, rendering it temporarily unsafe, which is such a pity, given the professional approach the Club has taken in recruiting and retaining players; encouraging sponsors and supporters alike.

Meals were to have started on the Thursday March 31st, before the first game, but we have had to postpone as the lads are training at Lethbridge and the girls at Bannockburn, disappointing to say the least! Hopefully all will be rectified very soon and we can get on with our Club based activities. All the community are invited to join us on Thursday evenings for yummy, family friendly priced meals - you are all most welcome!

As we look to our first HOME game v East Geelong on April 9th, we’ll be able to gauge how our volunteer base stands, so please if you have a bit of spare time come along and join us at Tiger Land! Many hands make light work.

Coming up on April 26th we have the Anzac Day game V Inverleigh away - this is always a hotly contested game and a great way to recognise and pay tribute to those specially, but not only, from our district, who have fought for our country in conflicts all over the world.

The RSL will conduct a service prior to the first bounce, and we thank them most sincerely for their support on this day.

The following Sat, April 30th we travel to Geelong West for a night game, under lights @ West Oval. Night games are a totally different spectacle! If only we might have been able to sit in the stand to watch, but no; some one, who has no idea of the pleasure of watching footy from “the stand” chose to try to burn it down; and its not yet fixed… So you get there early to get a spot on the hill; a great vantage point!

So now we are at the “real” beginning of season 2016- what lies ahead..? Hopefully a bucketfull of success all round!

Bring home the silver!

Please check social media for more details! So much more info than I can give you here!

Look forward to seeing you the game or Thursday night teas!
