2016 Good Friday Appeal Final Fundraising Total $17,445,624.00

“After 85 years of fundraising for The Royal Children’s Hospital, the Good Friday Appeal is always overwhelmed by the support of generous Victorians and this year we’re thrilled to announce the 2016 fundraising total is $17,445,624!" said Anne Randall, Director of the Good Friday Appeal.

The key regional Victorian totals for the 2016 Good Friday Appeal are:

Geelong - $403,116
Bendigo - $90,739
Ballarat - $146,891
Shepparton - $29,441

“Today, thousands of communities from across Victoria and beyond have united to show their support of this world-class hospital and we sincerely want to thank each and every person who has donated their time and money to the Appeal.”

“We also want to use this opportunity to specially thank all our volunteers, tin rattlers, corporate partners, regional Area Managers and fundraisers for putting together another phenomenal Good Friday Appeal,” Anne said.

The Appeal would not have been possible without the support of our partners the Herald Sun and Channel Seven along with 3AW, ACE Radio, Nova FM, Smooth FM, Telstra, NAB and Woolworths.

The support of ACE Radio had a considerable impact on country Victoria and allowed the Good Friday Appeal message to be spread further and wider. For the first time, regional Victorians were able to listen into the all-day Appeal broadcast and stories of regional volunteers and fundraisers were shared on-air in the lead up to the event.

This year, the rural and regional Appeal collectors raised an incredible $3,605,876 with the Geelong community reaching $403,116. Thousands of CFA collectors around the state raised a record $1,7763,267.45.

Since 1931 the Good Friday Appeal has now contributed more than $308 million to the Royal Children's Hospital.

At a local level the Bannockburn Fire Brigade conducted a door knock for this appeal and would like to thank our generous community for their donations totalling $1950.00 towards this appeal, which includes a wonderful $156.20 from the Bannockburn Bowls Club.

Unfortunately, again we were not able to cover the whole township area - it is growing so large and our volunteer member base is relatively small.

Coupled with this total is the $4,985 raised by the Bannockburn Golf Club through their Golf Day held on Good Friday. A truly magnificent effort from our community.
