Defibrillator
Bannockburn Primary School Council would like to thank Bannockburn & District Community Connections for their outstanding generosity in donating a $2000 defibrillator to the school.

A need for an onsite defibrillator was identified. We asked Bannockburn & District Community Connections if they could assist us and almost immediately they responded by agreeing to meet the full cost. We are extremely appreciative of this support.

The Bannockburn & District Community Connections program has donated over $300,000 to local causes which is outstanding and a fantastic support for all Golden Plains citizens. We urge all parents and members of the community to support Bannockburn & District Community Connections and the local Bendigo Bank. Here is local Bendigo Bank Manager, Shawn Ridgeway presenting the cheque to some of our school leaders.

Be Inspired
On Wednesday, March 23rd, Tegan Philip came to our school for our first, “Be Inspired” session, which Mr Nelson organised. Tegan Philip is a professional netball player for the Melbourne Vixens netball team. She has also played for Australia in the Commonwealth Games. At the moment she can't play because she has a knee injury.

We asked questions which were prepared and chosen by the students to ask Tegan. She happily answered all of our questions and we were all very excited to get to know a little bit more about Tegan's life.

The message we got out of the day was, you should always try your best even when nobody is watching and always prove to yourself to be the best that you can be.

We would like to thank Mr. Nelson for organising this event and another big thank you to Tegan Philip for taking the time to visit us at Bannockburn Primary School.

Anzac Day
During the week prior to AZAC Day school continued its tradition of commemorating this very special day and ensuring students understand the significance of the day. We had 73 children from grade 5 and 6 travel to Melbourne for the ANZAC DAY School’s ceremony. We thank Geelong Legacy for their support in making this trip possible. Our school leaders placed a wreath at the Bannockburn memorial as part of the Inverleigh RSL ceremony. We also held our own ceremony centred around our ANZAC Garden.

Excursions
Wednesday, April 27th was a very busy for Bannockburn Primary School. We had eight buses lined up at 9.00am to take over half the school to different excursions and camps. They included:

Gr 2-Melbourne Museum
Gr 3- Camp Wyuna
Gr 4-Queenscliff
Gr 6-Werribee Zoo

French Time.
We have started some new topics which we have been having a lot of fun with. The Preps have been learning about classroom objects such as un crayon, un stylo, une gomme (pencil, pen, rubber) and doing some drawings and games to learn these new words. In Grade 1 and 2, our new topic is les animaux (animals). We’ve played flashcard and bingo games to learn these new words, and the students have been learning how to say what pets they have. Next they will learn how to describe their pets.
