Battle of the Bands to hit Meredith in September

Golden Plains’ youth invited to get involved
Young musicians are invited to apply for the 2016 FReeZA Push Start Battle of the Bands Competition.

FReeZA Push Start is an annual Victorian Battle of the Bands competition for people aged 14-25. It provides fantastic opportunities for young musicians and emerging artists to gain local exposure and live performance time.

The first round of the competition will be held at the Meredith Memorial Hall in September. Meredith has played host to the Battle of the Bands since 2012, with over 60 musicians having competing in the competition this time.

The top band gets a great opportunity as the event is supported by the Meredith Music Festival. In competing, bands have the chance to win a spot in the Moomba Festival line up.

The Battle of the Bands competition is organised by a local group of dedicated young people who make up the FReeZA Youth Development Committee. Young people aged 14–21 are welcome to join the team and help organise this fantastic event.

Participants will learn from music industry professionals to gain the adequate skills necessary for organising the competition. The first meeting will be held at the Bannockburn Cultural Centre on Thursday 14 July from 4.30pm – 6.30pm.

Musicians and other young people can apply to be involved in the competition, or join the FReeZA Youth Development Program, by visiting www.goldenplainsdigital.com.au/youth-blog
