Bannockburn Bowls Club

Social Bowls
July 21st - such a cold, windy and wet day but the true bowlers came out to play.

Only a few drops of rain at the end of the day and the green after the MASSIVE working bee played beautifully.   Winners Barry Merrett (S), Terry Salter and Rhonda  were outright winners although hotly pursued by the other teams.  R/Up team of Ray Kelly,  Ann Salter and Don Gregory  also took home a prize.  Bev Hope was the lucky jackpot winner.

July 2 bowl triples - Thursday 14th
With 11 shots up the team of B Jones, D Auger and I Holmes (S) won the day with Patrick Mansbridge, Bert Van Ingen and Norm Armstrong (S) in R/Up place.

Lucky competition winners on the day being M Walker and A Symons.

Members again are reminded about next season's pennant.  If you wish to play please place your name on the sheet provided on the outside noticeboard.  GBR require number of teams to be entered for Saturday and Midweek pennant by 31/07/2016.

Luncheon Friday 29th July at Inverleigh.

THANKYOU - from Peter Lalor
"A short note to thank all the people who responded to a desperate call to have a minimum of 30 people attend the Bannockburn Bowls Club Green to enable the repair of a problem that the Club had been living with for some time.

I think all 38 who responded to the call would agree that every single body was needed to enable this difficult job to proceed.  With so many members of our Club being away on holidays and others working we were extremely grateful for the outside assistance we received from our friends at Cement Bowling Club, Inverleigh Bowling Club, Winchelsea Bowling Club, Bannockburn Men's Shed, Bruce Phillips and his brother in law and Steve Cartie of Golden Plains Shire along with two of his workmates.  A special mention should also go to our volunteer photographer, Ando, for building a fabulous record of the days events.

The work was not quite completed, however the Contractors returned to give a final stretch and brooming of the surface.  It should be nearly as good as new.  Heavy rain fell around 4pm that afternoon and there was no ponding anywhere on the green giving an indication that the problem has been fixed.

Thankyou all once again - it is great to be a member of a Club that is so well respected throughout the region."
