Kids Fun and Fitness

With the Olympic Games starting soon in Rio, it is an exciting time to watch amazing athletic skills!  But how about your children gaining skills in many of these different events?

The Golden Plains Little Athletics Club welcomes all children (aged 5yrs to 15yrs) and caters for children with disabilities. The focus is on fun, family and friendship.  The children learn skills in both track (running, hurdles, walks) and field (including shotput, long jump, high jump, discus); and the focus is on your children seeing their own Personal Best (PB) performances improve!

The Athletics season runs from October to March with friendly competition on Saturday mornings at Corio Little Athletics Centre, Goldsworthy Reserve, Corio.  And our own Golden Plains Club is a welcoming and supportive team that has seen many children not only gain skills in the athletic events, but display improved self-confidence and make new friendships.   If children feel fit it improves their self-esteem and increases their energy to do anything. Young people who take an interest in sport are more likely to stay fit for life!

And with Damien Birkinhead, who was a member of our Golden Plains Little Athletics Club in his junior years, heading to represent Australia by competing in the Olympic Games in Rio in Shotput this year, what an exciting time it is for our Club!

We wish Damien all the very best from our Club’s volunteer committee, athletes and families!

And to all future local young athletes, no matter what your skill level, join this next season!

A FREE Fun Skills Training and Information Session is planned for Sunday 11th September 2016 – please keep an eye out for advertising in our Golden Plains region or please contact Michelle Norton (President – Golden Plains Little Athletics Club) on 0400 595 171 for further information.

Our Club motto is “Do Your Best – Be Your Best” and we encourage all our members to do just that!

One more statement: “GO DAMIEN!!”
