Local student wins Hockey Geelong’s Best and Fairest

Congratulations to Caroline Pearce of Bannockburn for winning the coveted Hockey Geelong Best and Fairest Div. 2 Women’s comp 2016.

Caroline has been with the Golden Plains Navigators Women’s team since its inception in 2012 and had never played hockey prior to joining the Navigators.

She has shown great tenacity and determination, and with a love of the sport has risen to become an outstanding player. This year her improved ball skills and speed on the pitch, have allowed her to out maneuver almost anyone. A stellar performance!

Well done to Marita Seaton for coming second, Navigators taking 1st and 2nd position in the Geelong Competition.

The Golden Plains Navigators had its presentation night on the 9th September to celebrate the year and award trophies. The Women’s team made it to the finals but were beaten in the first round. The Men’s team were a couple of points low and missed the final four.

Not surprisingly, Caroline also won the Navigators Women’s Best and Fairest in hot pursuit by Marita Seaton. Emma Sim won the Coaches award.

For the Men’s team, Jack Lindgren won the “Best and Fairest” in a close call with Harry Sim, Jason Lindgren won the Coaches award and Jesse Pearce won the Team Managers award for Most Improved Player.

Congratulations to all players for an outstanding year.
