Bannockburn Primary School News

New School
Work has begun in earnest on the new school. If you drive down Milton Street you can see plenty of activity as the site is prepared. Services have been connected and the site is being prepared for the foundations to be poured in the near future.

Grade 6 Camp
On Monday, October 3rd, our grade 6 students headed off to Melbourne for a 3 day urban camp experience. Our students spent time exploring the Shrine of Remembrance, Queen Victoria Market, Eureka Tower, the MCG and much more. This location is a first for us and both the students and staff who attended thoroughly enjoyed their time.

Regional Athletics Carnival
Three of our students competed in the Regional Athletics Carnival in Keilor during October. Darcy Foran came 5th in discuss, Kaitlyn Johnstone came 6th in shot put and Christopher Watson came 6th in triple jump and also competed in discus. Congratulations to all three students on participating and achieving great results.

African Drumming
During last month we had our African Drumming Workshop. Children had a fantastic time in their sessions. Students got to play their djembe drums. They learnt about rhythms and how to create bass and tone notes.

Solar Boats
Whilst the school did not have entries in this year’s Model Solar Vehicle Challenge, Kaylee and Amber Towart put in an independent entry. The girls did well on the day, including some modifications to improve the boat in the very overcast conditions. The girls finished in the top 16 boats at the event. Well done girls

Topsy Turvy Day
The Student Representative Council (SRC) organised a Topsy Turvy Day as a fundraiser for The State School Relief Fund. It was a great day with the school raising $532 for the Fund.
