Maude Fire Brigade

Please note that the Fire Danger Period commenced on Monday 19th December 2016 for the Golden Plains Shire. This means that you cannot light a fire in the open without a permit, obtainable from the Golden Plains Shire.

It is likely that fires this summer could be difficult to control due to the heavy grass cover after the rains we have had. Slashing, mulching and mowing are all excellent options for reducing the vegetation around your assets and to protect your stock, but please consider the prevailing weather when you tackle these jobs.

Any permit burns should be notified to Vicfire on 1800 668 511 prior to lighting up. This may prevent a battalion of fire trucks invading your property to extinguish it.

Our annual Christmas Barbecue will be held at the Fire Shed on Saturday, 17th December from 6pm. The meal will be served from 6.30 until 8pm. Meat will be provided, but please bring a salad and/or a sweet to share. Cost is $8 each for adults, under 15 free. BYO drinks, soft drinks will be available to purchase.

There will be a jumping castle, Christmas hamper raffle, Christmas Carols and a visit from Santa. This is a great opportunity to meet up with your neighbours and friends for a pleasant night out, with plenty of safe area for the kids to play while parents relax and catch up.

There will be a meeting of the fundraising sub-committee of the Brigade on Monday, 28th November at 7.30 at the Fire Shed. Anyone interested in joining this cheerful, but slightly mad group will be made very welcome!
