Bannockburn & District Garden Club

Bannockburn and District Gardening Club Inc wishes all members and friends a Happy Christmas  Good Health and Happiness in the New Year

The Bannockburn and District Gardening Club Inc. enjoyed an "extra" when we visited the delightful garden of renowned water colour artist Marie Perryman and husband Ken.

The front garden in Alice Mews was full of Australian natives -  Grevilleas were in full bloom and a Banksia had huge candles.

As we moved to the back of the house the garden was full of roses all in full bloom. Lovely rose covered arches took us into a private garden with more roses and Icelandic poppies.

The productive veggie garden was full of tomatoes peas and beans.  I was most interested in the fruit trees that had been espaliered along the fence.

Marie gave us a short but very interesting account of her life and then opened up her studio for us to see examples of her work. Marie was presented with some iris tubers as a thank you gift. Afternoon tea was enjoyed by all the members.

Out annual Christmas lunch was held at the home of Erica and Chris Baulch - the veranda was festively decorated

Members were very interested in the impressive display of orchids on a 3 tier stand amd a very pretty water feature, Erica had a waist high raised veggie garden with some of the largest strawberries I had ever seen  Several fruit trees were growing in pots many of them grown from seed. There had been an attractive use of stones for pathways The garden had a number of interesting statues peeping round shrubs and bushes.

Members had all brought along a plant to swap. Lunch was enjoyed by everyone with a wonderful array of food,

As we are moving into the warmer weather please remember the sun hat, sun screen and drink plenty of fluids
