Apply now for Round One of the Building Better Regions Fund

Community groups and local councils are encouraged to apply for funding under the Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF), which is available for community and infrastructure projects in Corangamite.

The $300m BBRF will provide funding to create jobs, drive economic growth and support vibrant and strong regional communities across Australia. Importantly, the BBRF will be focused squarely on regional Australia, and is open to projects only outside of the major capital cities.

A BBRF information session is being held on Wednesday 18th January 2017 at the Colac Otway Performing Arts & Cultural Centre 95-97 Gellibrand Street, Colac from 10.00am to 11.30am to allow applicants the opportunity to find out more about the Fund. Please see here for more information.  For those who aren’t able to attend, an information session has been recorded at

While the majority of the funding under the BBRF is expected to go to infrastructure, the BBRF will, for the first time, be open to small community groups and volunteer organisations which don’t have the capacity to provide matching funding.  Applications will be assessed in three categories depending on the size of the project – so small community projects are not competing against huge projects worth tens of millions.

Funding under the BBRF will be available in two streams:

• The Infrastructure Projects Stream will invest in projects that involve the construction of new infrastructure, or upgrade or extension of existing infrastructure.

• The Community Investments Stream will invest in local events and activities, strategic regional plans and leadership and capability building activities.

Applications will close on Tuesday 28 February 2017 for the Infrastructure Projects Stream and Friday 31 March 2017 for the Community Investments Stream.
