Information Required for Leigh Cricket Association History Document


Work is currently underway on a history document on the now-defunct Leigh Cricket Association that operated in the local area between 1921 and 1999 (with a break between the scheduled 1941/42 and 1945/46 seasons for World War II).


Over the duration of the Association, the following clubs have played various periods of time in the Leigh Cricket Association:
• Inverleigh (1921/22 to 1940/41, 1946/47 to 1998/99)
• Bannockburn (1921/22, 1926/27 to 1940/41, 1946/47 to 1953/54, 1956/57 to 1998/99)
• Shelford (1921/22 to 1927/28, 1933/34 to 1940/41, 1946/47 to 1958/59, 1967/68 to 1998/99)
• Teesdale (1921/22 to 1940/41, 1946/47 to 1966/67, 1974/75 to 1998/99)
• Meredith (1933/34 to 1935/36, 1946/47 to 1998/99)
• Lethbridge (1929/30 to 1935/36, 1946/47 to 1998/99)
• Rokewood (1953/54, 1956/57 to 1994/95)
• Elaine (1957/58 to 1978/79)
• Winchelsea (1925/26 to 1929/30)
• Golf Hill (1925/26 to 1930/31)
• Anakie (1977/78 to 1983/84)
• Cressy (1995/96 to 1998/99)

This notice is being distributed to seek items of interest related to the Leigh Cricket Association from past players, family members of past players and local historical groups.

Items of interest for this document include the following:

  • Team Photos
  • Premiership Photos
  • Match Photos
  • Private collections of Scorebooks (both Club and Association)
  • Written personal recollections/stories of the Association.
  • Administration Records (e.g. Minute Books, Trophy Winners)
  • Cricket Memorabilia (player caps, bats, etc. for photography)

 

If anything of the above can be found in things like old boxes in the garage or in a suitcase on top of a wardrobe, it will be of importance to the project and will make a difference in the final product.
