Maude Fire Brigade News

Summer Fire Restrictions are still in place. It may be that you will see smoke from controlled burns along the coast, and some farmers may be able to get permits for burning stubble provided the conditions are suitable. All permit burns must be logged with Vicfire, and can be cancelled by the CFA if thought necessary.

We have had a quiet season so far, with no large fires. A fire in the Pioneer Ridge Road area very recently was quickly controlled, thanks to the prompt work of local brigades and DELWP, with invaluable help from a water bombing helicopter.

Our annual Christmas Barbecue was held at the Fire Shed on Saturday, 17th December. A pleasant evening was had by all.

There will be a meeting of the fundraising sub-committee of the Brigade on Wednesday, 22nd March at 7.30 at the Fire Shed. Final arrangements will be made for the annual Trash, Treasure and Craft Market on May 7th at the Fire Shed and Rec. Reserve. Please note the change of meeting day.

The next meeting of the Maude Fire Brigade will be held at the Maude Tennis Pavilion on Wednesday, April 26th, when elections for all positions will be held.

It is with great regret that we report the sudden death of John Nolan, a 60+ year member of the Meredith Fire Brigade, and a much loved member of the Meredith Community. Our Brigade extends sincere sympathy to his wife Mary and son Chris, and also to the members of the Meredith Fire Brigade.
