Teesdale Primary School

End of term 1
A very busy term one is coming to a sporty close with the following events being held during the last week.

Teesdale PS Cross Country
This cross country event was held on Tuesday 28th March at Don Wallace Reserve.  Successful competitors from this event will go on to represent our school at the MVA Cross Country next term on Friday 21st April at Don Wallace Reserve.

MVA Athletics
The Moorabool Valley Association postponed the Athletics Carnival to the last Thursday of term and was hosted at the Goldsworthy Reserve Corio.  At the time of print, results were not known, so we will update you in the next newsletter.

Learning Expo
Thank you to our families who came along to the Learning Expo during the last week of the term.  Students were very excited to showcase their projects for family and friends.

Parenting Support - Reminder
Golden Plains Shire is sponsoring a free, three week program in Bannockburn, starting Wednesday 19th April at 6.15pm, called “Tuning into Kids”.  The program will continue the following two Wednesdays, 26/4 and 3/5. The parenting program is being delivered by a highly regarded facilitation team from Centacare, Ballarat.  I recommend this program to any family to help provide guidance and advice on enhancing the resilience and well-being of your child.  For more information go to:

Kitchen Garden News
A huge thank you to Kim Andrews, Genevieve Elijah, Sam Laro-Bashford and April Turnbull who came along to the preserving day and helped turn our surplus garden produce into delicious preserves. We made tomato sauce, tomato relish, plum sauce, ratatouille chutney and fried eggplant in olive oil. It was a fun day sharing knowledge, stories and taste testing for quality control! We hope to run more of these days next term subject to surplus produce.

Mudbrick Café Report
Our Mudbrick Café, Real Food Festival event, on Wednesday 15th March, attracted 32 guests.  The event drew a great deal of interest and included as guests, three representatives from Golden Plains Shire.  Year 3/4W and also Chloe performed as guests.  Our school student leadership team, Tom, Eliza, Matilda and Teague, were our serving crew.  Austin was our greeter.  Well done to all students and staff involved in making this a wonderful success for our school.

Upcoming Café dates for 2017 are:
May 17th, June 7th, Aug 16th, Sept 13th, Oct 18th and Nov 15th

The Café is open from 11:30am – 12:15pm.  All welcome.

Farewell to Helen Bathgate
As has been communicated in a previous newsletter, we said goodbye to Helen Bathgate, who has taught at Teesdale Primary School for 28 years, at our final assembly for this term.  Parents joined us at the assembly to farewell Helen.  Parents and Friends Association also presented Helen with a gift at the assembly.  We will be holding a special farewell dinner for Helen early in May to celebrate her long association with Teesdale Primary School and share some very special memories.  We wish Helen the very best for the future.
