Maude Landcare Group

The Maude Landcare Group held a working bee at the Spillers Bridge planting project on Perdrisat Road recently. Members put in a lot of time over several days and the result is very pleasing.

While the rain over the last few months has been very beneficial to the young trees, it has also resulted in heavy grass cover around the plants. In spite of this, the survival rate has been very good. Unfortunately there is also a very healthy cover of oxalis over a lot of the area and plenty of blanket weed and heart leaf ice plant, two somewhat similar invaders from South Africa.

The long awaited planting at the Maude Rec. Reserve is scheduled for July, but the date is not yet fixed. Let’s hope we have a mild, calm day, as the site is very exposed.
