Football And Netball Championships
At the end of last term, we had both the Year 5/6 Football and Netball teams participate in the Geelong North Division Championships.

The football team had a great start winning the first two games, losing the next two and winning the last game. We played some terrific football throughout the day with many highlights. Our footballers had support from Mark Blake, with his AFL playing background, throughout our carnivals. All players were very appreciative of his time.

Our netball team played indoors at the Geelong Basketball and Netball Centre and came up against some very strong opposition winning two games throughout the day. Mr Black was quite excited by the girls’ willingness to learn and improve but returned to school looking for some extra height.

Author In Residence
We had our Author in Residence, Michael Wagner, work with all classes from July 24th-28th. Michael is a children’s author, speaker and storyteller. He is the author of the Maxx Rumble series, the Ted series and the Undy series.

Each time we have an author in residence we have a Literacy Lunch where 30 children get to have lunch with the author. This was held on Wednesday, July 26th. To be selected to be part of this event, students were asked to write a SHORT story (no more than 150 words) about a time when one of their family got caught in their underwear! There were many interesting stories and the children who won a lunch with Michael thoroughly enjoyed their experience.

State Cross Country Representative
One of our Year 6 students, Flynn Gregory, represented Bannockburn Primary School in last month’s U/11 State Cross Country Competition. Flynn worked extremely hard over the start of the year to attain his position at this level. Flynn put in a tremendous effort finishing mid field in the competition. The school would like to congratulate Flynn on this wonderful achievement and the determination he displayed in accomplishing this Personal Best result.

Paper Plane Competition Winners
Last term, we held our inaugural Paper Plane competition. Students were required to design and build a paper plane that travelled the longest distance. It was wonderful to see so many students across all year levels getting involved!

Our winners for each year level are:
Year 1 Hannah Kemp
Year 2 Mitchell Towart
Year 3 Aiden Prior
Year 4 Toby Sager
Year 5 Kiara Woods
Year 6 Billy Greave
