Community Run a Hit
Participants tackled the 1.8 kilometre and 4.4 kilometre courses in crisp but sunny conditions, sent on their way by starter Brett Cunningham, representing sponsor GMHBA.
The fun run was part of the Community Enterprise’s health and well-being program, funded by GMHBA. Family, sporting and friendship groups participated at varying speeds, with the emphasis on participation and fun.
Bannockburn’s Tim Arklay was first male across the line in the 4.4km event, while Karen Arnall was the first female. Random prizes were awarded at the end of the event, which also included a free barbecue, fruit, water and giveaways.
Organisers were delighted with the community’s support of the fun run, which they hope will become an annual event. They praised the support of the golf club, GMHBA, and the Bannockburn and District Lions Club and Golden Oldies Men’s Group who acted as marshalls on the course.
