Tennis Victory for Sutherlands Creek Ladies
On Tuesday 21st June, the Sutherlands Creek ladies midweek team won the Section One Premiership of the Bellarine Tennis Association.
The grand final was delayed as the preliminary final had been washed out two weeks prior, when Sutherlands Creek played Bellbrae. The grand final saw Sutherlands Creek defeat Wandana Heights 4-2 sets and by 10 games. The match was played at Portarlington in very difficult windy conditions.
After the win the team celebrated at a local winery. There was much to celebrate as Karen Best, Ann Johnson and Colleen Battye had returned to midweek at Sutherlands Creek after a ten year break. They were delighted to recall many happy memories from earlier playing days, and share this recent one with their new team member Susan Bissett, and emergencies Steph Guy and Kristen Battye.
