YMCA Geelong - Bannockburn Recreation Centre

YMCA Geelong is a not for profit incorporated association providing programs and services to the greater Geelong region. We are part of an International, National, State and Local network of YMCA’s operating in over 120 countries worldwide.

Our prime objective is to provide programs and services to enhance the communities in which we work. This objective is in line with the YMCAs organisational branding we build strong people, strong families strong communities.

Why did the YMCA take the initiative to manage the recreation centre and community sports stadium?
The YMCA are excited at the prospect of working with the Golden Plains Shire, especially as we see such potential in a municipality that is rapidly growing and in need of new infrastructure and valuable programs and services to deliver from such. We view the delivery of sport and recreation as an ideal means to enhance community life on many fronts, to improve health and wellbeing, to meet, connect and engage.

The vision for both centres?
YMCA Geelong’s vision for the Centres, and in facts its goals as an organisation, align closely with those of the Shire.

We are here to improve opportunities for the community in which we work.
Specifically at the Bannockburn Recreation Centre and Community Sports Stadium we aim to provide a range of programs and services for all members of the community.

In the main part we will endeavour to provide grass roots opportunities for participation in a range of sporting and recreational activities, the bigger picture being that we become a key service provider of health and wellbeing programs and services within the community.

It is our aim that the greater Bannockburn community is a better place because of the presence of the YMCA.

YMCA Geelong is proud to introduce the Centre Coordinator for both the Recreation Centre and Community Sports Stadium Brad Neurath.

Brad, aged 22 years, lives in Ballarat and has completed a Bachelor of Sport Management at the University of Ballarat along with his Certificate 3 and 4 in Fitness. He represented North Ballarat Roosters in the VFL and his interests include socialising with friends, football, basketball, motor sport and music

He is passionate about developing physical activity within the community, as he believes that physical activity is a key to a strong and healthy community.

What will be offered across the two centres?
